‘Kurious supports the notion that every culture and place contains communities of diverse creative people who play their part in the creation of artistic content.
This is an evolution of the age old tradition of story-telling and engagement with a shared emotion, whether through film, theatre, dance, music or spoken or written word.
This collection of artistic voices is fundamental to the fabric and understanding of any given culture and place.’
The media industry is going through a period of fundamental change bringing new opportunities for emerging independent talent and regional centres for production. Kurious is delivering the facilities and services needed to make Sheffield a centre for media production.
Kurious performs a number of functions, including (i) the support of emerging creative content makers, (ii) the creation of a creative hub of industry standard post production suites and offices, (iii) the development of a content platform, (iv) the development of an online creative community hub, and (v) the creation of a ‘Funding Circle’ to finance commercial projects through equity investments.
